Leaders

Thank you for volunteering to be a leader in Pack 40!

(1) Den Meeting Resources

Main landing page for all den meeting resources:

https://www.scouting.org/programs/cub-scouts/den-meeting-resources/

All grades must complete 6 "required" and 2 "elective" adventures to earn their rank. Aim to complete the rank in time for the Scouts to earn their rank badge at the Ranking Up pack meeting in June.

Den Meeting Resources list all the activities for each adventure:

Remember to consult the BSA's Age Appropriate Guidelines  chart if you're planning any extra activities. If it's not shown as allowed here, we can't do it in Cub Scouts.

(6) Den Chiefs

Some dens have a Den Chief. A Den Chief is an older Scout who has completed den chief training. They assist at den meetings, and sometimes at pack events as well.

The Den Chief position benefits everyone!

- It is a leadership opportunity for the Den Chief.

- Den Leaders get extra help running meetings.

- The Cub Scouts have a role model close to their age to look up to!

What do Den Chiefs do? Den Leaders and Den Chiefs should work out an arrangement that everyone is comfortable with. Den Chiefs should be given an opportunity to lead or help lead activities during den meetings that align with their interests and comfort level. Depending on their rank, Den Chiefs can even teach "Scout skills" like starting a fire, water purification, and whittling chip. While not leading, the Den Chief may act as an assistant for the Den Leader, or participate alongside the Cub Scouts and help them as needed.

Remember that while Den Chiefs are a valuable member of the leadership team, they do not count as a Registered Adult for YPT rules.

(7) Den Dues

Den leaders can collect reimbursement for den supplies up to $20 per Cub Scout.

Please email a copy of your receipt to the pack Treasurer for reimbursement.

(8) BSA Health Forms

BSA requires us to have a paper copy of the Part A and B medical form for all attendees at any Scouting event.

Pack leadership will collect medical forms at the beginning of the scouting year and put together copies in 2 packets:

(9) Email list management

The den email list contains emails of all the adults in the den.

The pack email list includes all the den email lists. This means that whenever you add or remove someone from the den email list they are automatically added or removed from the pack email list.

Den leaders have permission to update their den email list.

To add someone to the den email list

To remove someone from the den email list
